Phoenix Monkey/McNasty - actually the same move?? 16 years 10 months ago #21913

Hey
How do u guys seen these two moves? I can do both and I understand the dynamics but sometimes it feels and looks the same especially in holes without much green water... Also when I see the other paddlers doing these moves it seems the only difference is the crossdeck stroke used to initiate the pirouette/spin before the loop while doing Phonix M.. Most people initiate McNasty by a spin/cartwheel like end so that the rotation looks exactly the same.

I also judge freestyle competitions so I ve seen and judged hundreds of those moves and the fact is that hardly anybody does a pirouette during Phoenix Monkeys(rather a spin) and hardly anybody starts McNasty from back blast (i.e. back surf on green water) most people use the dynamics of the spin to initiate the move...

Another fact is that the rules describe McNasty as being bounced from the green water (i.e. it describes the move as it is performed on green waves (Pistol Flip) see description here playak.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&a...w&catid=109&id=18567

Just wondering what you think....
