Jeepers, that is flippen hectic.... even the damn mayor... Crazy people - no life vests. That just didn't sound like a good idea. Man made stuff is almost always bad news.. :huh:

Looks like a school book example of a low head dam accident. I'm always amazed that modern condtructions in rivers are not designed to be more safe. This one looked like death from miles away... if you know what to look for.

Unfortunately those low head dams/weirs have to be designed in such a way as to slow the river down and tame its energy in the simplest/cheapest way possible. And that creates ultra deadly hydraulics for swimmers… It’s such a pity that non-kayaking people don’t have the knowledge about death traps like these. Ouch!!! I really would not want to die like that. :dry:

I'm no hydraulic engineer, but I don't understand why dams like these need to stop all the water. I guess this thing us used to control the water flow into a hydroelectric plant. I would also think that a simple V shaped smile hole would do the same job at slowing down the water and not killing people. It would probably also look scarier so nonpaddlers wouldn't think of paddling it. Anyway I would say this is a much healthier way of letting the water through the dam
