i am just getting back into ww kayaking. I was introduced to it some 20 yrs ago. I am basically a beginner and I am looking at getting a boat to learn some skills. I have a tight budget and at this point the choices for me are an older savage scorpion and a pyranha mountain 300. I want a boat that i can learn in but want to be able to progress without having to upgrade right away. Any opinions on which would be a better boat? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Pyranha...

Mountain 300 was/is a good boat and would suit you well IMO

check on Craigslist and Boatertalk to see if you can find a better deal. I agree with Laddie, but you may want to look for a newer model. here is a link to Boatertalk: boatertalk.com/gear/gear.php . most of these boats are between $400 and $500, but they are much newer, with better outfitting and features.

maybe an 2006 or younger Jackson fun???

Thinking price range that'd be a good bang for your buck that could go a long ways..
