Ive got a pyranha prozone and im practising cartwheeling. I find it really hard to get my bow down in the water even when i double pump.

Any sugestions on what i am doing wrong or what i can do to improve?

Or is it just my boat?

Thnx

Don't forget looking over your schoulder when your pulling your bow down, that helps you to go round.

The double pump requires a forward sweep initially. This is usually not a problem. Then a kind of reverse sweep. This is where your problem could possibly be. Make sure the paddle is parallel with the water when initiating the back sweep. lean forward with your shoulders and head to get some more weight behind the stroke. Also practise paddling backwards. This will help you in many ways. Such as building the muslces in your chest which are probably never really worked anyway cause your muscles on your back do most of the work most of the time. This can help prevent shoulder dislocation too but not stop it, obviously. Many playboating moves require a powerful reverse sweep as well. Make sure your boat is nicely on edge when initiating otherwise the strokes you're working on will just rotate the boat in a horizontal plane and not vertically as you'd like.
Can't comment on the boat. Don't know how big it is or how heavy you are. Good luck[/color:437e92af60]. Hope this helps..

I've finally gotten off my lazy ass and put up some flat water cartwheels on the site. It's under the video section > technique. That was still when I paddled a Big EZ. Good boat for easy cartwheeling... good fun... Got the ZG 54 now. Awesome...Check it out and enjoy...[/color:f4b5cc4596] :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Big time... I can assure you it took a lot of practice. After about a year of trying i got my personal best at 40 flat water ends. I don't think I'll ever get that again...

I found a video once of a guy doing 33 ends. But i can't remember where i got it. Uploading it would probably be illegal then cause i have no permission. Pity... :bitching:

When double pumping once you have puled the bow out of the water try to make sure you pull your blades back so that they are parrelell to the boat and as far back as possible.

if you are finding that your bowis popping back up then the boat is flattening off under water try and keep it on edge all the way through and keep your wieght upright in the centre and practise practise practise

Try putting your seat as far foward as is comfortable. That should help a bit!

It seems like I'm either giveing too much egde and falling over or not enough and not sinking the bow. Any ideas?

It's not all about edge control. Yes it is a factor, but something i find helpful, is to keep looking at the blad you are using to push the bow down. This gets your boay round to the right position

Prozones are a pretty slicy boat right? This is the most important thing for flatwater ends, low volume bow and stern. Also, getting a bit of forward momentum before doing your double pump helps. And try to keep your eyes fixed on a point ahead of you when you do this, then when the bow goes round and your stern starts to hit for the second end (at which point youll be unable to see your target point) turn your head and body as quick as possible to look at the target again.
Have fun, hope this helps.

I can cartwheel my 7' 9" Mr Clean Perception. It took a long time, being so long, the thing I learnt was: Paddle forwards for 10 meters, Do a forwards sweep stroke and throw your whole body weight back, Do a reverse sweep stroke and throw your whole body weight forwards. After throwing your weight back, THIS is the time you need to edge your boat as much as you can for when you throw your weight forward again, when it comes to your 'Throw weight forward' part your bow should go so much deeper, then you just follow the flow. It all comes with practise and it's easier in short boats.. Naturally.. There's less to throw around.

I find that the shorter the boat, the easier it is to initiate, but its not very stable. with a longer boat, its much harder to initiate the cartwheel, but once you get going, it is very balanced and stable.
