Moving to Canada in about 4 months - Calgary.
What's up with decent creeks and rivers and playspots around that city? I mean, what's the closest quality ww to Calgary?

Check out Stuart smith's guidebook to the Canadian Rockies. From mid may to mid july a 45min to 2hr drive will give you about 30 good river/creek runs. After mid July drive 2-4hrs and you get anouther 50 rivers that get going. Basically from mid may to mid sept a 6-7 hr radias from Calgary will give 100's of runs of any level you want. Check out -

Canyaker is right, check out Stuarts book if you can find a copy, the forum is also a great resource. There is a good well established community in Calgary and you will be able to find boaters going out for anything from Class 2 to Class 5.
