Try a different brand, would recommend the Star/ Allstar from Jackon both faster and more fun than the project, or the Pyranha 4Twenty, Rev, Gforce

Happy Boating

Was it an old or newer version of All star? as theirs a big difference, I wouldn't bother with a s6x dated boat that wasn't that great when it first came out! Check out Swansea Canoes they have several boats in which could be worth a try and a few are on their special offer page.

Love my project52 it wants to spin on a wave, breaks loose super easy. very predictable and forgiving when cartwheeling. and has more rocker than the JK stars, so it's not quite as fast on a wave but you get more bounce. Plus it's more easily customizable for a good fit than any jackson boat I've been in. and I used to own a 4fun, paddled a fun quite a bit, and paddled an allstar. But test both out and really demo them hard. :silly:

the 45 and 52 are sick boats, plastic's great and outfitting is better than any on the market. In my opinion these are the best playboats out there. The 62 is kinda big, heavy and sluggish, but the only big boat that seems to avooid those problems to some extent is the new super star.

My other word of advice is that the second you try it, you'll either love it or hate it..

The way this boat fits isn't for everyone, It's narrow, so your knees are not cocked out like in many other boats. The project doesn't have extra bow space for your feet, so if you have size 11 feet and over a 32 inch inseam than you'll be screaming from the foot pain. I truly believe that if you don't have a boat that doesn't fit your body well, then you don't have a good boat. In other words there is a boat out there for every person, fit wise, ability level, and how the boat performs based on your strengths and style. That being said, the project series is a great playboat, with a design that pulls features from many other boats out there to be right in the middle of how it performs against other boats.. It'll be faster than some, less edgy than others.. More forgiving than many, and easier to predict.. while it will be slower than some, and not as bouncy as others.. etc. etc. etc.

Again, I love this boat, it performs exactly how I like my boat to perform, does exactly what I want, and fits me like a glove. And the fact that it takes many boat designs and puts it into one boat so that it falls between other boats in design features. it's great, because I can get the best of both worlds.

I have heard bad things about the plastic, but so far my boat has been brutally bashed and is standing up very well to the abuse. SO, get to a store demo so you can test out various boats or whatever you can do, but find a boat based on you and your needs and your style.
