i read about every boat i see everybody sais its the loosest boat ect. what does it mean because they cant mean in the cockpit cuz you have to be tight.

Looseness is referring to how the boat feels on a wave, how easily it spins and how easily it can be thrown around.

think of it as how loosely (or not) the boat is connected to the water.

round hulls typically 'suck' (let some water run from the tap, and touch the jet with the rounded side of a spoon to see what i mean).

flat hulls and sharp edges typically make a boat looser (put the side of a knife into that jet this time).

sharp edges also give the ability to carve when you put the boat on that edge.

the big trade-off is 'aggressiveness'. don't take a boat with a very flat bottom and very sharp edges for a ride on big volume grade V if you're a control freak :)

Very well put

I have been paddling a " loose" playboat and could never really tell what it really means to be loose on a wave... THis weekend I took out a Bliss Stick RAD 185 for the hell of it

I NOW know what loose is... That thing spins around like it is lubricated:woohoo:

Dammit... Im going to buy another new boat... Time to whore-up some overtime
