Just saw that Astral is coming with a new PFD called Greenjacket.

Has anyone here tried it, and do you know if it is a replacement/improvement for the 300R, or is it for different use?

Hey man,

Last i heard, in the uk this is so might be a little different for you in norway, was that the jackets were all made but awaiting finalising on the new saftey check ISO(made to replace CE in the near future). I think the products are literally awaiting the labels to be sewn in once the test is complete, other than that there aren't many samples or any pics but this is due to the lack of completed safety check, the only thing is a drawing which has featured in kayak session magazine a few issues ago, and which feature in this years product guide from system X (the product improter).

Astral Green vest just started shipping all around the U.S. last week.
I got a call from NRS to say that they were charging my credit card and shipping one to my house
So, Astral got the approvals they neeed and are sending them out.

I tried one on at the Kajak show here in Europe and wasn't very impressed with it. It's a very different type of vest and I just think that they have tried a bit too hard to pack everything in to make a great vest. Less would of been more.

I will stick with a Rescue 300.

thanks for your opinion. many are having the 300 as a favourite, and I may try to get one a bit cheap when they take in the green jacket.

I never liked the 300 from Astral because I thought it was too much foam in one place making it like an awkward brick.
The Green Vest makes more sense and fits me better.
Of course, it is good that they are so different, because everyone is different, so now more people have choices.
