If you look at the deck, the bumps for the knees are in nearly the exact same position. The Topo Duo is 12'2" long, 25.2" wide and the Dynamic Duo is 12' long, 26.5" wide. The Dynamic Duo is still listed as design spec, but it is listed at
Colorado Kayak
for $1500. According to
Outside
, the Topo-Duo is $1650. It will be interesting to see the difference in the outfitting, as well as the interior construction of the boats. The Dynamic Duo will probably sell better, but mainly because most people have heard of Jackson and have local dealers. According to Eskimo's site, they only have 1 dealer, which is in Duluth, GA. This means that it would be much tougher to get a Topo-Duo if you lived in Idaho, as an example. According to Outside's short review, the only disadvantage is that there are not bulkheads, so if one person wet exits, the boat would fill up with water fast. One other hybrid boat that I forgot is the Pyranha Master TG, which seems to be the most whitewater-oriented boat of all of the boats previously mentioned.
This post could also be compared to the Predator Lee/Strutter post about whether or not if Predator copied Sweet with their Lee helmet. The only difference is that the Dynamic Duo may become the better of the two boats, but only time will tell.
