Does anyone have any experience with Rasdex decks? Somebody locally has just imported a couple and although I've got enough decks at the moment I was just curious. No idea which models they imported either but I suspect it's the low end stuff, like usual.. (living in Africa does have certain disadvantages)

Never seen one but the company says there Kevlar model was designed with input from and being used by Mick Hopkinson. Would be worth a look.

Maybe I'm dating myself but Mick is a true ledgend. Mick runs the NZ Kayak School in Murchinson, South Island, NZ. Ran the Dudh Kosi in the 1967 Leo Dickinson film. ( "Dudh Kosi-River of Everest") . One of the GREAT Kayaking film, EVER!!!. Not a music video, but adventure film. 1st run of the white nile, Colorado, nevis bluff, ect.... can't even begin to explain.

He's Still running class V. He is a no bullsh*#, tell it like it is all around good guy.

Really Adrian, if you havn'e seen this film you should. Hand made fiberclass kayaks, giant cameras taped to the boats, hand made wood paddles, base of everest wearing only wool, cut down pfd's to get out of holes, etc... Hell yhey drove all the way from Europe to Nepal!!! I here Dave Manby is re-releasing it as a DVD sometime this year.

Practically half of my canoe polo team use them, and many people in our club use them for slalom paddling aswell. I've got 2 myself the vest deck and standard persuit deck used them alot over the past year or 2 and they show hardly any wear. The vest decks are definately the best though as they don't ride down atall keeps more water out to. The cags and cag decks are good to, and great value.

Somehow, we ended up with an extra copy. If you can't find one we can send it along, then you can send it to someone else. Maybe it could make it's way around the world?. Problem is it's VHS. Not sure it would play over there?

VHS would work here. But it would be great to get this onto a digital format. Tapes last only so long.. I'll forward this link to Petteri and see what he says. Oh, and Happy New Year!

I have some old VHS tapes as well. I think in one of them mr. Hopkinson runs Milna GOrge of the Snake river in Idaho. I prefare the slow pace cutting / editing work of the older 80´s films.

My short list of good ones:

Urubamba & Susitna 60 mins. (late 70´s early 80`s + brits running Urubamba with glassfiber K2 seakayak)

Colorado 45 mins. Royal BCU trip to Grand Canyon (1973 I think?)

Breath of White Water (NF of Payette & Snake + some playboating by Rob Lesser & John Wasson)

Fun Forever ( best VHS of the 80´s and possibly best all time kayak video)

The Everest expedition was 1976. Mike Hopkinson was 'the man'.

Will check Mamby's site for sure. This film was the winner, in 1976 of "best film of festival" at The Banff Film Festival and "grand prix du festival"- Paris, La Plagne.

Early to mid-twenties - Mike Jones celebrated his 21st birthday on the Blue Nile - this event is beautifully described in Mick Hopkinson's book chapter in Manby's 'Many Rivers to Run' - also available from Manby website.

I was a teenage boater when the Jones team were off exploring the globe - they were gods to us.
