Pryanha G3 16 years 3 months ago #24537

I have located several Pyranha kayaks I'm interested in and was wondering if anyone could tell me if a G3 is a good begining ww Kayak or maybe the H3. I will be doing mainly cless 3 and under, at least this coming year. Thanks for the help.

The Pyranha G3 is a good allround river running kayak. I would recommend it for a beginner rather than the H3 which is more 'edgy' - ie harder to manage but higher performance. The G3 should also be a lot cheaper.

Croft,
thanks for the input any and all help I can get will be a great help. I have found the G3 and H3 for the same price for each and both are new.

Hi guys!

Found this:
G3
The modern design of the Pyranha G3 provides you with a flat hulled kayak which is great for cruising but will also happily tackle smaller rivers. It is also able to carry lots of gear, which allows the G:3 to be used for longer trips on sections of flat water such as canals, lakes, costal waters or in instructional/group situations.

H3
The H3 - Pyranha's formidable river running and creeking design, the H3 is an innovative, modern, evolutionary river running and creeking design. It incorporates logical and innovative enhancements that will enable paddlers to tackle rivers all over the world with predictability and confidence. Its no nonsense river running ability and exceptional internal comfort and control will also be of interest to intermediate paddlers who are looking for a boat in which to gain more experience, and to those who work and teach on the river.

Ahh, decisions:unsure:

I´ve got the 255 version of h:3 which I haven´t had the chance to paddle so much. But so far so good. Super comfy, lots of space and very stable B)

What is the price of the G3 compared to the Karnali? The Karnali seems to be better designed and has better outfitting. Here's a comparison: link .

The G3 i found is for $499.00 on sale quite a big difference from the price of a Karnli. Granted the latter is a nicer boat but for begining I think the G3 will probably work for the price. Thanks cjcc.

Linked to the M:3 on the last post by mistake, but as far as the G3, it is really long for today's boats (9' 1 inch). If possible, demo it, and according to Eddyflower, it is 80 gallons, which is a lot. I would get the H:3, but that may just be me. It is the predecessor to the Burn, but still should be solid. Many people have had Pyranhas crack, since the only 3 Eddyflower reviews that I saw (2 for G3, one for H3) said that part of the boat had cracked. If you can find an old Liquid Logic boat (I'm not fond of the Li'l Joe/Trigger/Hoss series) like the Gus/Huck, that may be ideal. I have a Fluid Solo, but they are fairly hard to come by for low cost (mine was $875, which is the lowest price that I have seen new). Go to Boatertalk.com and see what you can find.
