hi guys the time has come to part from my boat and put some money into a new one

i have around a £450 ish budget

i spend most weekends (trying) to play with my club at chester weir

i also do the odd river cruise and want to start running rivers

am i best to keep looking for a river play boat that will let me play a little and run rivers at the same time

or shall i look at going slightly older and buying a play boat and creek boat

what sort of boats could i get for £200

its so confusing i wish i had more money :P

cheers guys
Luke

I have a budget of 450 but i was wondering if i should split it between 2 boats instead of one so i am just interested what sort of boats are available for around £200 if i decided to get a play boat and river runner rather than a river play boat

Look for a used Pyranha Recoil or a used Bliss-Stick RAD. Both of these should work well for your intended purpose. If you get an older model, it will probably have worse outfitting, and it could have significant wear that you don't notice. If you only paddle on day trips, you could probably split it, but you may end up paddling a river and wishing you had a play boat with you when you are paddling a river runner. For a true hybrid between the two, look at the Pyranha Ammo or the Bliss-Stick SCUD.

its a hard choice but at 17 studying a levels and having just past driving test i dont have all the money in the world to buy a boat now and change it then summer because i dont like it

I would go for the RAD, but that's just me. It seems to have the design that I like best (low stern which should help in surf, raised bow, good hip pads, good plastic) and is about the same price as many other boats. Here's one company that I found that you may want to look at: link . Here's their new playboat page: link . They have some pretty good brands available (Pyranha, Liquid Logic, Jackson, Bliss-Stick, Fluid, Wave Sport, Dagger, Riot) but the only brands that I would buy would be Fluid, Liquid Logic, Jackson, and Bliss-Stick, since the others have plastic problems or financial problems.
