dougie1 Offline Premium Member Posts: 74 Thank you received: 0	i have had the same lendal mania paddle for 4 years now. the blades are stil pretty much the same size as when i got it and the only problem i have had was with the grrp getting ripped and giiving me blisters. i sorted that with some tape. my local shop say there has been a drop in quality since lendal moved to USA so try and get one made in scotland if you still can.

Did your local shop give you any reasons why "they think" the quality of the paddle has dropped? I have one I use as a spare that is 4 years old and a friend has one that is lass than a year old. They look and feel the same. I would think Johnson Outdoors Water Division would have bought all the tooling when they purchased Lendal. Are the materials different? Are they cutting labor corners or is it just becaues they are now made in the US? Would be good to know if this statement has any merit as this is an expensive paddle and have another friend looking to make the purchase.

I've had one lendal paddle for a year and a half and just bought another 3 months ago. I just broke both of them on a trip down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.
I went to CKS to do the warranty exchange (by the way, Jenn at CKS was great help).She was informed by the company that bought Lendal that they were basically closing down all American Lendal production, and that they only had 2 shafts left, a 192 & a 200, so I wouldn't be able to replace my 197cm with the same shaft. So, they will replace the3 month old paddle shaft. I'm still not sure whether they will replace the blades. They absolutely will not replace the 18month old paddle, as it's past the 1yr warranty period.

I have to say, I'm very dissapointed, and now I would tell everyone to stay away from Lendal paddles.

Croft Offline Elite Member Posts: 101 Thank you received: 0	That is really sad news - I used to be a dealer for Lendal when they were still based in Scotland and it was a delight to work with them. Their pride and quality of product and service were second to none and the (carbon/nylon) blades were almost unbreakable. A great company appears to have been trashed by a take-over.
