I'm looking to buy myself a Whitewater PFD, but I have a few specifications.
- Must be Blue or Grey (i.e. NOT RED!)
- Should be suitable for a small paddler (i.e. not really big and bulky)
- Must have a 'chest harness' system, i.e. that band with a D ring at the back with a quick release buckle at the side.

I've got my eye on the Palm Fusion, and will be trying one soon, but for now I was just wondering if it has the D ring at the back or 'chest harness' system with the sown through straps, for live bait rescues and stuff. Is it a whitewater rescue PFD or is it more of a playboating one?

Ta!

Dont think it has a chest harness, in fact I'm fairly sure it doesn't. Perhaps try the symbiantWW and buy the chest harness aswell?

Why do you care about color? I was looking at the Astral Green Jacket (problem: pullover), Stohlquist X-Traxt D (problem: shoulders bunch up), and the Extrasport Pro Creeker (no problems yet). Check out the Astral Tempo 200, since it can be retrofitted with a QR belt.

dude, women just do care about color. no need to ask why. just accept it as a fact of life :)

lynne, i think palm has some for women in grey and i'm sure they'll be great quality. also have a look at kokatat, they also make great pfds for women in a wide range of colors.

Not blue/grey, but a women-specific version of the Astral 300R: www.astralbuoyancy.com/products/archive/wonderpro/index.html

Men's jacket, but it should work fine: www.astralbuoyancy.com/products/men/tempo200/index.html

There's a few options for you. Jeroen, as far as I know, Kokatat only makes 3 models with tow belts, one of which is WW-specific (Ronin Pro). You can get the Ronin Pro in Mango/Grey though. kokatat.com/product_detail.asp?code=rnp

Hi I am also currently looking for a new PFD. I'm pretty new to this small boat thing, but have been rafting for about ten years. I'm looking for an all in one vest. One that can act as a rescue vest while I'm out in my raft, but will also give me the freedom of movement in my kayak. I'm a relatively small woman, and I am running into some problems there.

As far as color goes, my experience says it does matter. Green, light blue, and gray are very difficult to see in the water. I currently have a green jacket and on any water not remotely clear, you can't see it. Just something to think about. Might as well give your paddling buddies any help you can when your under the water.
