Whiplash. Help 15 years 11 months ago #26231

6 months evolution of whiplash after a car accident. :( Normal results of radiology, MRI and CT. Blood test presents Hypercholesterolemia

Neck, lumbar pain and tinnitus. Some TMJ symptoms.

Medical diagnosis: Idiopatic tinnitus. Physical therapy don't work for neck pain.

I already know that this is not a medical forum But i want to retun to the sport.

Any advice will be appreciated.

In 2001 I had a car accident - I was driving, not my fault. Compressed the 3rd vertabrae in my neck. (In 2004 I got cash from a third party claim from that accident and bought my first kayak! But anyway...) My neck gave me trouble for at least 3 to 4 years, probably more. Everytime I went hiking I always HAD to take an inflatable pillow. Supporting my neck was critical. Even now, 8 years later, I still have to. Neck injuries are really bad news. I hope you get better soon :) Everyone I spoke to also said it takes many years to go away, and sometimes it never really goes away at all. Of course I'm no expert. Good luck  And keep paddling!!!

Maybe...... :P Just take it easy and keep a positive mind. As the saying goes, the doctor dresses the wound, the patient heals itself ;) Oh, the green looks very cool.. hehe

What if you paddled flat water and in small doses? Meet your body half way with it. Talk to your doctor too. But I have had neck and back problems secondary to a long-distant car accident and kayaking helped me. It can serve to strengthen muscle groups that help to compensate. The only problem would be lifting the kayak--use wheels for that and maybe get a kayak lift system or even a cheap trailer. Kayaking is important to your mental health. Set a goal live strong as the saying goes.

Definitively I go to the Traditional Chinese medicine. Two sessions of accupunture and the results are hopeful.:)

For a long time I practice qi gong. Is not necessary to believe in the Qi or oriental philosophy

Indeed. But just being in the water is as important. Much to the disgust of my surgeon, I took up bodyboarding last year a little while after surgery. It wasn't the greatest of ideas but I had some cool sessions, and it definitely kept me sane! I still enjoy it now! Death of the soul is perhaps worse than physical death itself.

Glad you're doing some other stuff Rodriguez! :)

Water in Chinese medicine is linked to the kidney. And the kidney is the source of energy. It is not exactly an anatomical description as a western medicine.B)

During the three years of cancer's treatment I practised between sessions of chemotherapy whitewater kayaking and qi gong. I don't know which works better. But I recommend much qi gong. And if you add a bit of meditation, better

Pity that at my age may not participate in the Olympic Games in London
