Has anybody else used these boats?
Curious about your experiences....
Four pounds in weight, good to class IV low volume. Easy to carry and surprisingly tough.

10 mile walk-in 5 hours.

more technical creeks, but not V

"10 mile walk-in 5 hours."

I recently busted out a 12 mile hike, with 3500 foot elevation rise and carried a total with my kayak of 90 pounds. Took me 6.5 hours and I am not in superb shape by a long shot, my vote stands with my trusty plastic creeker

Oh yea, these boats weigh under 3 kg so if yer flyin they fit in the overhead and are fun for Class IV -- cheaper than flyin yer real boat...here's a fly-in trip in Alaska where the boaters did two little side creaks -- one sorta steep. four guys for three days at 800 pounds total (bodies + gear + boats)

Not a replacement for a hardshell, but a first descent machine for too distant/expensive to drag your real boat in:

Is the bottom inflated? sorry hull!?

dosent look like it from the video. I dont think you'd catch me on a high volume grade 1 river in that. Let alone the low water there paddling in. I think you'd bust your cheeks open if you hit a rock!

I quite like my ass cheeks in one piece. Or am i missing summit?

You sit on an inflated seat.

Grand Canyon has also been run in these (sort of like a high volume class I, right?)

While those who paddle them may be hard asses, most of us learn techniques for not hitting your butt, sort of like learning techniques for not hitting your face with a hardshell

Ah i get you now, there is some kind of seat inside. When he sent it down that rapid without a pilot it showed the hull and it looked just like an inflatable dingy. The kind you get from a beach shop(here in the UK anyway). Id pretty much never say no to most things but i think id rather sit in my plastid boat.

Cheers for the insight, good topic.

I like watching these videos, its something different. Have noticed one thing thou.

I know that there obviously stern heavy because of the way you paddle them and there designed to go in a rucksack right? so they need to be small. It seems that most of the time they capsize because the stern squirts and they fall backward! Has anyone thought about adding some weight to the front? Would this help? There is 1 guy on the latest video who seems to have a bag tied to the bow. Could you say, fill a dry bag with water and tie it down?

Just an idea, i could be way off.

Oh and that music is great :) keep it coming.

Thanks Matt for the encouragement....big water is often better with weight in the front, like here

but litle creeks where you have to twist and turn fast -- well it's easier for me to go with no weight and scoot forward and have a good brace like this:
