installing a drain plug on my biscuit??? 15 years 8 months ago #27343

Does anyone know if this is a D.I.Y job or if it has to be done by a competent person?
I imagine it could be quite difficult because of the need for it to be watertight?

I have just bought a brand new boat (an LL Biscuit 65) and went out in it for the 1st time tonight, i came to empty it and obviously not all the water came out (its now in the carpet in the back of my van!) I can use a sponge if the general opinion is that its to much effort to install a plug.

cheers for any help

matt

You could, and it shouldn't be too tough to do. NRS sells drain plugs, but I don't know of places in the UK that have them. Get some of the silicone nuts for the back of it (has a think blue silicone ring on it) and you should be fine. As long as you drill the right size hole, I don't see why there would be a problem.

Congrats on your new yak...

Don't do it! just get as much as you can out and then use a sponge for the rest.

3 reasons.

1/ Why put more holes in something you want watertight as possible.

2/ You will completly invalidate your waruntee

3/ When you come to sell it DIY jobs will not be looked on favourbly.

Empty then sponge.

Enjoy it mate, the bitches will be running well this weekend.

Just been to the club session, low and behold a lad turned up who wants to do some whitewater now there's four off us. thats enough to start doing our own river trips with the clubs consent. weekends in wales was discussed at length, i added the bitches and its something we all wanna do.

happy days :)
