Looks like it could work, the wave would form to river right, and the rocks to river left could create easy access. Would love someone in Ireland just to try.
But if you were to

Nice wave.

The outside rock would speed water up enough to allow a wave to form.
All of the above is just a best guess tho.

the Os are rocks.

He/she is traping water by the sige rocks then forcing them to go over the rocks in the back of it creating a wave unfortunately this wont creat a sticky wave just another reagureler bump or if it did you would be constility getting caught on the rocks or knock over the rocks

If you want to make the hole stick add structure about a meter below where your hole is desired.
This will force a "pillow" effect. This is effective with low CFS water.
My father in-law has a small river running through their back yard and I get to play with it a lot.

You can also dig a large hole below and slightly downstream of where you want the feature to be. This will have a similar effect.
Basically to make it stick you need to slow down the water immediately after the feature so the fast moving water has something to pile into.
If you can get hold of cement block (long and narrow) from parking lots they work well and can be manipulated with a crow bar. (untilthey settle in after a while)
have fun

I believe that you got it.

Looks like the structure is the "O" and the --- is the flow.

To the point in 2 dimensions.

good luck

Could this work??

Once the above rocks have slowed the water down enough, water would then build up on the second part creating a wave? what ya think?

Looks better.

give a go in a shallow stream to work out the details.

If you have a small stream say 6 feet wide 1 foot to 2 feet deep, it makes a really good test bed.

By the way, the structore after the wave. You might try yo open up then ends where it comes to the shore.
Place the materials only sightly wider than the top open area.

What about this??

The structure indicated by X should be out of the water all the way to the shore the shore.

You should make sure that you can open up sone of the structure beore the wave 'cause if it restricts too much you will flood upstream and piss off he local homeowners, and/or farmers.
:cursing:

I like to screw arround with stream and am working to allow a regional authority to let me play with an old spill way from a canal to do something like this.
If you do it and get any pictures please send them and I will do the same.
In the mean time have fun playing with it and show some of the results on the web.

We are planning on wedging a large pipe (main water) accross, above the rocks, tying it down and making a wave, the rocks aren't that big, but r very substantional!! It is difficult to explain the setting, but it will hopefully work.

Just make sure you don't create a hazard for other users of the river, including yourself. Good luck. Send a pic if it works! Cheers
