Peak UK gear and Riot boats - yes/no??? 15 years 6 months ago #28098

Any1 got any views on there gear? I was thinking of going to the shop at holme pierrepoint tomorrow so just wondered if any1 has any complaints?

I had a pfd of theres ages ago but only wore it a couple of times, but i never came out my boat when i was wearing it! was a good fit and had lots of features.

Ive noticed they are the dealer for riot aswell. What is the state of play with riot boats since the whole closing the factory in Canada and moving somewhere else? Quality?, workmanship?, price?

???

Matt

I have been paddling peakuk gear for a while now. I use it for my own recreational paddling as well as for instructing on kayak schools, guide courses etc.
So far I have no complaints, they even got better during the last season and the enw "updated" products for the new season is even better. Currently use their decks, dry tops, shorts etc.
Good products and the ones I have work hard, I paddle a minimum of 3 days a week and have gotten about 18 months out of my current gear and all is still going strong.
My two favourite things are the guide pfd and the combi dry top.
Riot make good kayaks, if I didn't paddle Fluid I would paddle Riot.
Cool shop as well.

Me and 2 of my mates bought new dry cags and shortie cags from them 2 years ago (diffrent models and sizes to one with deck built in) at exactly same point before a trip away to newzealand. All 3 of us went paddling last week and we are still using them now just with one neck seal replacement. So the quality is spot on in there clothing in my view it was third cag i bought of them and convinced friends to them now only reason i replaced orginal is it was stolen and other had argument with barbed wire fence cant blame them for that sadly lol.

Peak UK is great kit for the price you cant go wrong and the shop at HPP are a good bunch.

Riot have gone bust so potentially a waruntee issue so check with the shop before you buy.

Have they gone bust though? Steve Fisher was at Kanumesse with Riot boats manufactured in China...

I can't say I'm impressed with PeakUK's gear or their customer service via PeakUK US.
I bought a Tourlite Shorty splash top on closeout and the seam tape wasn't completely attached on the entire jacket. After several emails and phone calls, always assuring me I'd get a replacement, I'm still waiting for it 8 weeks later.
The last phone call I made was a week to 10 days ago to a person who claimed to be the owner of PeakUK US (Ken Driscoll?). He said that not only would the jacket be sent out right away (because he's the boss), he also said that I'd get a tracking number verifying shipment. I received nothing.

I have a peak dry top and a neoskin shirt. The only thing I could complain about is the shipping cost is always like $12 which i think it a little high. The shirt is extremely warm. It's 2mm thick but has a lining inside that basically holds all water out. there is a tight elastic band at the bottom that is hard to get your shoulders out of though. The dry top was also great for the price. I ordered the shirts a couple of weeks ago, and recieved it last week.

RandomTask,

I sorry to hear you are not happy with the service you have received from us here at PeakUK US. I just checked through the records I have, and your jacket shipped out the day I spoke to you, and was delivered to your home yesterday. UPS tracking said "Side Door".

Again I do apologize and if there is anything we can do for you in the future please let me know.
