Accendetally bought a kayak to small! 15 years 5 months ago #28312

Hello! I just recently bought a perception sparc kayak on ebay & I weight 220 lbs, & the maximum weight capacity "I found this out after I commited to buying it" is 170 lbs. I got in it today to try it out & made it less than a mile downriver before the boat started taking in too much water over the side & needless to say I had to end up swiming with my life jacket on & boat in tow! until that happend the Boat carried me well with 2 float bags behind the seat, Im going to buy a spray skirt for it hopefully to compensate for it sinking lower in the water because of my weight, Do you think this will correct my problem? thanks A bunch in advance for anyone with experence in this sorta things help, David!:unsure:

If water is coming in over the sides without much current, you should probably try to trade it. Try Boatertalk.com and click on gearswap. Not sure what you could trade it for though, other than the ARC.

Thanks! I've Already done So Per your Suggestion, If I can't swap it or sell it for at least what i've got in it, I guess I'll have to try & make the best of a bad Sittuation Hoping the spray skirt will do the Trick! Thanks! Dave :)

You should definately try to sell it because you are already 50lbs over the maximum recommended weight. You dont wanna get down river crashing into holes with a boat with not enough volume for your weight range. try selling it ang getting something like a 4Fun, mamba or a super hero.
