Help - I need a boat 15 years 3 months ago #28929

Ok, first time in doing this...

Started paddling last year on a 1 and then 2 star course. Need to improve and was persuaded to buy a liquid logic CR250, which felt stable in a swimming pool. Got onto river, and its a bit frisky (lots of swimming) - sure it will be good when I have become more competent but at mo a am using a club boat - pyrahna G3 at my club.

I am considering looking around for another boat (for rivers & maybe creek if suitable)- I am a big chap, so need something which will take a 115Kg paddler

any suggestions ??

Cheers

Jump in a Super Hero man. It'll carry you through the watter like you're in a cadillac. I had a 4fun and got rid of it for the same reasons as you got rid of the cr. I would have got a super hero/hero but was in between sizes. There was too much volume in the super and i would have sat low in the water in a hero. I did paddle a super hero though and it was an amazing difference in stability. They'll carry like a 280 lb person too

I really like the Jackson boats as a big kayaker. I currently paddle a Mega-Rocker and a Super-Fun. All day comfort, great performers, and confidence inspiring (easy rolling, stable, and predictable). Also more durable than the other kayaks I have owned.

I didn't pick the Super Hero because I found it a little short for my likes and in the fit with long legs and big feet and couldn't load it up for multi-day trips with my big carcass in their. I have recommended that our club buy a few of these boats. Like the Fun, they make a great learning platform (maybe even better) with the ability to keep meeting your needs as your skills and adventures develop. A good investment.

If I could start from scratch I would go with 2 boats: the Mon-Star and the Villain (if it is big enough).
