Hi
hopefully someone here can help me. One week ago I was diagnosed with glandular fever. The only symptoms I have is sore throat and mild fatigue.
My question is , is going paddling a good idea? I had paddling lined up fir Saturday and Sunday and would like to go but am worried that i might be endangering my health due to the fact during glandular fever or mono as it's also called the spleen becomes enlarged and during sport may rupture which potentially could result in death so needless to say I'm freaked out!

Have any kayakers out there any experience in this matter or any useful input. It would be greatly appreciated as putting my life into danger is not something I'm taking lightly.

Thanks in advance,
Saz

I know nothing about what is wrong with you, but I know one thing - don't exercise when you're really sick. You only have 1 body and 1 life, and I'm sure it's more important than missing a day or two (or more) of paddling. Maybe I'm wrong.. :P I'm sure someone else will know more about this and be able to give you better advice. Take it easy and get well soon!!!

Don't paddle for one day to have to stop for a month ;)

Get fine properly then go to the river

I've had mono before, guy (BEST sleep I EVER got!). I would sleep for an entire day, get up with a VORACIOUS appetite for CHINESE FOOD (it's the only thing that would do), then go back to sleep. You really need rest--it's all you can do, dude. I know how you hate to here that. And I don't take my own advice. Sliced my finger open Valentine's day/this weekend (had to go to the ER and get it glued closed--some guys will do anything to get out of Valentine's Day I guess) making a dog obstacle course for my daughter and the dog. Don't get it wet, doc said. Like hell. Was a good paddle today!

But really, mono isn't something you can do much about other than rest. Just sleep for 3 solid days, eat only beef fried rice mixed with beef low mein and call me in the morning---I mean three mornings. You will be tuned up for sure. I guarantee it! for real.
