[b:870e28f824]Joint Kayak Club Paddle Excursion At Lake Morena[/b:870e28f824]
Come share with me, the experience of paddling this exquisite lake which provides dazzling mountain views and a variety of inlets to explore on May 19th, 20th and 21st for a combined kayak club paddle between the Valley Wide Kayak, the California Kayak Friends, and the San Diego Kayak Clubs. Family, guests and potential new members are welcome. Please join me, to meet other paddling enthusiasts in Southern California, to share ideas and experiences, to check out different clubs, to find paddling partners, and most of all to enjoy the pleasure of paddling this outstanding lake! Since this event will primarily be an opportunity to mingle with other paddlers, to find people of like interests and paddling speeds, etc., the only designated time to paddle, as a group will be on Saturday May 20th at 8:30 a.m. Bring your lunch for a picnic following Saturday’s paddle. Otherwise, please use this opportunity to socialize and arrange with other paddlers a time, day, distance and speed you are comfortable paddling during this three day event. The only requirement to participate in this event is that you read and sign a waiver. All participants are responsible for making and paying for their camping reservations, (and/or day use and launch fees), and providing their own equipment, camping gear and food. Paddlers will assume responsibility for their own safety, as I am not a professional trained guide. I look forward to meeting you all. Sincerely, Janice L. Lake Morena is located in the Cleveland National Forest, nestled in the middle of 3260 acres of oak, chaparral and grassland. The lake is surrounded by large granite boulders, rolling hills and low mountains and has a succession of small islands protruding from the water’s surface. The lake usually has calm waters due to a 10 m.p.h. boat speed limit which prohibits fast powerboats, jet and waterskiing. The only drawback is that swimming is not allowed. Lake Morena offers limitless year-round paddling opportunities one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset, seven days a week.
