I would recommend a jackson super star or maybe even a monstar. They are top of the range and good for the bigger paddlers. Im 6ft1 and i paddle a Dagger Kingpin 6.3 and find it a little big so maybe that. And they can be adjusted to suit a wide range of heights and styles.

What kind of kayaking is you boyfriend in to? If he is more into creeking or river running I would suggest you have a look at the Fluid Detox Medium. It is very forgiving and stable but still playful.
If he is more into playboating the Nemesis Large will be the best for his length and foot size.
Have a look at this discussion for more info: playak.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&I...w&catid=107&id=29432

We definitely need a little more info. We had some reactions from whitewater paddlers, but maybe he wants to go sea kayaking or wants a sit-on-top to kayak near the beach.
If you're happy, you're successful.

As Jeroen said, more info would be handy. It sounds to me like he is a beginner doing white water rivverrunning, right? What he doesn't need than is any flatwater kayak, any composite boat or a full on creeker. So the range he can choose from goed from big river runner to playboat. Big river runners are relatively stable and easy to paddle, great for beginners, great for people paddling at the edge of their ability. The cath is they are not quite as fun to paddle on easier water as smaller boats, he won't be able to play arround a lot. I only have experience with the wavesport diesel myself, but most brand have a decent one. Playing is what playboats are for, but those are slower and get knocked over easier than the big river runners. Plus being 6' 4" and only 85kg he might have trouble finding one that plays well. He could try out the wavesport project or fuse, the jackson star or fun, the bliss stick rad or the fluid nemesis or flirt (my boat, great boat), all in some of the larger sizes. Since you said you were looking for an all rounder, this is probably not what you're looking for. Somewhere in between are the "normal" and playfull riverrunners, you'll notice when you see them that they are a lot flatter than the big river ones. Examples are the dagger GT and the eskimo Xeno (both a bit older, I'm not really up to date in this). [edit]O, and I forgot the fluid spice, not a bad boat either.[/edit] They're somewhat stable, and somewhat playfull. It's probably the best bet for someone who doesn't know what he wants yet. Don't worry too much about the confidence, it will come over time, especially ones he learns to roll.
If you have an idea which type of boat you're looking for than I'm sure there are some people here who can point out a few good ones for his size and weight. And don't forget, demo before you buy.

thanks to all. the boat he went for is an axiom 9 as he said that swimming is not so bad and he got it verry cheep £300. we shall see he likes running class 1 and 2 at the moment I am speending my time going down river backwards so to keep a close eye on him as he cant yet do straight lines or go where he wants when he wants, we are looking at a 2 seater for up to class 3 next year, as im disabled getting on and off the water is the hardest part for us and of coures i do not have the option of walking a rapid witch he is happy to do so paddleing willl in my cofort zone for the next 12mths whilst he learns is fine

Being late man is being late. But happy to know you got a boat. A bit on the big side for my taste, but he'll have fun in it. Hope you don't get bored with all the backwards paddling. And the best part is that with only two boats to choose from (as far as I now) your next choice is going to be a lot easier.
