Hey Guys

I got a Molan recently enough and am very happy with it. One issue i've had though is I feel I am a tad too far back in it. However I already have the seat as far forward as it goes. Can anyone help?

I have heard you can just use one bolt on each side as opposed to two which would allow me to get forward another inch or so which would probably do the job perfectly, Im just a tad worried that would put a bit of strain on the seating system and cause something to break ( I'd assume there was a reason there is two screws)

Any suggestions really appreciated!

If the seat is as far forward as it goes then why not try adding outfitting to make it tighter so you still have the same control. Look for the Jackson accessories such as the sweet cheeks, happy feet and happy seat. I don't really know a lot about the molan so i don't know about the seat problem but if you are scared something will break then i would use other things to fill the space in your boat rather than maybe break it.

Yeah, I have a bit of foam up the front of the boat that has me secured fairly tight, Its more a question of balance

Try tightening your backband a good bit, and adjust the hip pads for it to see if that will fix it. If so, I would seriously look at the Sweet Cheeks, and when you set them up just shake some beans to the back to keep you forward and make sure that they stay there so you won't slide back.

I have never paddled that boat and I don't know how long you've been paddling for, but here's my take. If you've been paddling for a while then this boat may feel a bit strange because of the short stern, and hence your need to want to go more forward. If you're a beginner and struggling to get vertical on flat water it could be because of lack of technique. I don't know, maybe you're an awesome paddler.

According to their weight range you're near the bottom but I don't quite buy it. I would guess you're probably exactly right for the boat, especially once you have gear on. What I could suggest is to raise your seat with a piece of 10mm foam. That way you'll have more control and power over your edges and it may help you to throw the boat down - assuming this is a problem. And I assume that because the bow would have a fair amount of volume in it and your want to go more forward. If your bow doesn't pearl while surfing waves then maybe all the way forward will indeed work for you. But as for your question to go more forward than what the seat currently can do, I wouldn't suggest it as you will be compromising the strength of the system they've designed. Most boats are designed for a central seating position with a small variation either way. Oh yes, by raising the seat, you'll find you also have a bit more power in your strokes, but it does raise your centre of gravity and may feel a little unstable. Just put in that foam and don't glue it in yet. Experiment. You may find you like it. If not, at least you tried. Good luck, let me know how it turns out. :)
