Look this is a excersing sport. This is hard to do and fun that is why we do it. Yea sometimes it sucks to carry your kayak out of the river but hey suck it up the walk out may suck but talk to your buddies about the run or previuos runs. If it really hurts switch from shoulder to head to other shoulder to drag it. if that bites loop duct tap around the boat. then make straps to that then carry it like a back pack

Remember that boat was loaded with several litres of water, food, clothes, bivvy bag, sleeping bag, stove and fuel etc.... I'd challenge anyone to carry that for an hour up or down some technical terrain...

hi..

i have carried my boat (90pounds) for 2 days over mountain passes to reach rivers, as well as for many other days with various loads..

this is a pain in the ass job to do but sometimes necessary to reach the first descent or the remote gorge/wilderness...

i think to carry a boat over distance (not portaging) needs something to soften the load, something you will be able to stow away in your boat easily (including all the other kit) and is reusable and reliable (stays in place with a load isn't that easy)...

obviously porters are the ultimo but not always available...

[color=cyan:eefa6991b9]This is true. :ask: Tip of the day - paddling on weekdays can cause problems because most children are at school, hence no porters! [/color:eefa6991b9]

Meh, My favorite porter is my car. I went and made sure my first car was a tiny 4wd Suv to take my kayak. It has made things a lot better

hey dudes,

i posted here a while ago and i'm glad to see it's still going. I'm working on my product design student thesis project on just this exact problem we're all cryin' about. If you guys can hold on to your pants for a bit I'll be ready to post things up by june. But if all goes well.. it will hopefully be an exciting things for the world of kayaking.. as long as it gets made that is. ha. we'll see.

PLEASE.. any comments on a this imaginary (for you guys) perfect.. ideal product that's up there instead of duct taped, strapped up rigs, drop me a line.. and keep up the venting. thanks

jeremy
