My mom got one of those for my nephew when he turned 4. She told me she was getting him a kayak, and I just had to laugh when I saw that. Though now I must admit that he loves it and will spend hours in his pool paddling around. His little brother loves it to. My nephew turns 6 this year and I'm convinced that he is overdue for the real thing. If grandma and grandpa don't get him kayak then his Aunt Nicole will just have to fork out this year! Kid has to kayak...I need someone in the family as a partner.

just make sure you either get a boat too big for him because if you get it the right size and he does not like it but then a couple years later wants to get back into kayaking the boat will be too small so make sure the boat you buy will fit him in a couple years. that is what my dad did to me when i was 8 he bought me a wavesport stubby great boat but then i didn't want to paddle and then about 1.5 years ago i got back into paddling then i stoped again because my sport back then was baseball but then i bought a new boat and got serious about paddling and now i love paddling

Good thing is when he outgrows this boat it will be passed on to his little brother. And he will soon be getting a new little brother or sister. I'm going to have a whole gaggle of kayaking nephews and nieces when I'm through with all of them!
