Most people on SUP don't use, not because the don't need it, because there's nothing good enough in the market. After several months testing, and developing we're very close to it, and will have the definitive prototypes in a month or so. Anyone want to test it for kayaks?. Do you use paddle grip for kayaking? Thanks

Having good grip on your paddle can save a lot of energy. I always use tennis overgrip tape on both SUP and kayak paddle shafts. I use some carpet tape underneath to make sure the overgrip tape stays in place.

I've also tried Tegs micro-grip, which feels good when dry, but once wet, it's very slippery again.

The relatively new Sugru material is nice as well, but also not optimal once wet, and it's not easy to apply in a very thin layer.

Overgrip still wins hands down for me.

When I do need, electrical insulation tape works very well - and is cheap. Adding thicker grips increases the diameter and tires the forearms out quicker. This is why that tape it so good, it's super thin

dougie1 Offline Premium Member Posts: 74 Thank you received: 0	I use surf wax if i feel the need to improve grip, usually only if i am going to paddle something hard. also surf wax seems to keep my hands warmer. surf wax and pogies last winter we were out in -10C and surf wax with pogies kept my hands realy warm.

Grips well but when you do 20 to 30km in a day it eats the skin away, not ideal for day two of a trip Also, the wax messes up the interior of your car, and has a habit of getting everywhere. Keep us updated, would be good to see what you come up with!

Jeroen Offline Administrator Posts: 1351 Thank you received: 8	Yeah, wax is dirty. I got it on my gear and also on my (sun)glasses - not nice. I use the thin type of waterproof tennis overgrip. If that stuff would be as sticky as the carpet tape I use to apply it, it would be pretty close to perfect. Looking forward to your solution. If you're happy, you're successful.

dougie1 Offline Premium Member Posts: 74 Thank you received: 0	Sugru seems like a way of making a power bar type grip similar to what lendal have but I wouldn't expect it to give much actual grip on the shaft. Wax is the only realistic option just now just get a van then there is no need to worry about getting it on the car upholstery.
