I got my level 2 course next week and i need some help. I forgot how to teach. Can some of you dig deep into the "coaching technique toolbox" and help me out?

Its only level 2.

Level 2 is 2*. So that is low brace turns, moving the boat sidewards.

But its not the skills that matter, its the teaching style.

One of the most popular around here is IDEAS

Introduction
Demonstraion
Explanation
Activity
Summary

I need some stuff like that.

A good place to start is with IDEAS.

A couple of pointers though -
When you're introducing a new technique, explain why and when this technique would be used, maybe give some background. Also (especially if your are teaching children) if you have some sort of a story or anecdote it can help them remember things easier.

Then demonstrate the technique - Break it down into small simple steps.

Explain what you've just done - again keep it simple.
once you've done that ask your pupils to tell you whats required in order to complete the technique.

Then get each member of your group to try the technique - it can also help to get each member of the group to analyse each others technique this can aid the learning process, though you have to be careful - in some cases, especially with younger groups - this can lead to minor bullying, so that is something you will have to keep an eye on.

If there is enough time in the session - try and have a preprepared game that utilises the technique that you've just demonstrated. You can also use this time to make small adjustments to individuals technique.

Then once the game is over - summerise the technique and also get your pupils to explain to you the different aspects of the technique etc.

Hope this helps :)

the most important aspect of teaching i beleive is that everyone is having fun, you cant learn if your not enjoying yourself and paying atention.

use games that help teach and hone the main skills you are trying to use.
