I've read through various airlines fine print about excess bagage, sport equip, etc... but really it seem to vary between costing more than my actual ticket, to basically free as 2nd bag....

Has anyone had experiences flying with their boats?
I have a Super EZ, and it isn't light (maybe 23 kg? 50 lb?)...

Airlines I'd be particularly interested in would be Alaska, Air Canada, United, Qantas...

But any stories appreciated?

Perhaps 'pre-shipping' my boat by other method would be the better way??

I can't offer you much in the way of advice with your mentioend airlines but if you get chance then BA (British Airways) are pretty good.

I've flown Germany - Ecuador with Iberia and they were very unhelpful though the excess for the boat was only $50.

London - Turkey (Turkish Airlines) return cost me about £15 for the boat.

London - Nepal (Gulf Air) return I haven't had to pay yet.

Will be flying London - Morocco (BA again) in a few weeks so will let you know how it goes.
