why limit yourself to a choice whithin one manufacturer?

1. what kind of paddler are you NOW?

2. what kind of paddler do you want to be in the future?

3. what boat do you paddle now?

4. what rivers, or types of rivers will you paddle on the most?

5. why are you considering these boats, and why won't you consider other boats?

answer those questions, and people should be able to better help you.

Hi,

Demo both of them and figure it out from there.
Spend some time in them. If they are sponsoring you then they should want you to perform as best as possible so they should not have a problem with you trying them both for a while.

Another question: My familly and I are going to be in Quebec City for Easter.

Any good play spots open by then? If so let me know where I can find you and we can hook up and paddle. (my Air 60 needs to get wet!)

The Flair is just a air with a longer tail on it. Altough I loved to paddle my air on the big waves I think that the Astro is going to be the better boat as it's the one Steve designed and paddles the most. He's also a big guy like you 5'11?! and the design just looks way better than the Flair. If there was ever a boat that you just look at and go "naaa! I don't think that's going to work" it's the Flair!

I'd also get a Power seat in it as all the other seats that I've used from riot are not designed by boaters (As they are useless and usually move around so much that I start paddling my old boat until I the power seat arrives). Don't belive anything the dealer tells you that their new seat is just sooooo good and amazing and can do everthing. I did twice, like how stupid am I?!

Riots rip it up on the wave like no other.

135lbs is like 62kg? that is pretty light. I'd still go for the Astro myself but for you I'd say listen to everybody else and test both of the boats out! A lot of times a boat might be great performance wise but you can't sit in it for more than 10 minutes as your feet hurt too much. I don't have that problem as my legs are pretty short (I wear shoes in a Air 45 and am comfortable).

Hope this has been some help in getting your new boat

it won't be too light, you'll like the little extra volume on big waves (where the astro is made for, it'll bounce like hell), but it will be a little harder to cartwheel/split etc, especially on flatwater.
