Currently thinking Chile, but aside from that where would a fun place to take my wife (a class three boater) for a little warm water vacation this summer? Skook? The Ottowa? Please save suggestions if you personaly have not been there. I live in Cali and am willing to fly or drive.

beautiful area, good food, easy whitewater, good playspots, steep creeks, great people, but the water definitely isn't warm...

As long as its sunny you will dry off quickly if you do take a dip in the glacial melt. why not travel to the Austrian Swiz alps while your at it oh and dont forget Slovenia beautiful country good paddling freindly people!

Europe is a lovely contienent to paddle in there stuff for everyone!

I have to agree with Urge.. You're dry in 30 seconds.

The water is cold but remember you're going to be physically active in 30c+ heat. You'll welcome the cold water, you really will.

The best place to take a non-paddling wife is Corsica.
When we go there, we camp close to the beach. She spends her day at the seaside, I spend my time paddling in the most beautiful rivers in Europe.
I am happy, and she is happy.
I would suggest it to all the "paddling husbands"! :)
Forgot: you can do this only in April and May! After that, no more water.
Bye,
Stefano

CANADA CANADA CANADA.

I might be a bit biased but there is nothing like a vacation on the Ottawa river.
The water is warm in the summer, the resorts like Wilderness Tours are awsome or you can rough it in some smaller campsites,
It is a short drive to the City (Ottawa) and fairly close to a bunch of other great spots, Montreal (Habitat 67, Lachine Rapids) The Rouge Rive, The Gatineau River and a whole lot more.
The Ottawa offers something for all levels of paddlers from beginners to the advanced.

Good luck choosing where to go.

I forgot,

You can do a bunch of little road trips from Ottawa too: Quebec City. Beautiful city and great creeking all around it.

Another side trip to Watertown New York and some time on the Black River.

On the way to Montreal you can do a slight detour for a nice paddle in Vallefield.

Soooooo many rivers in a 6 hour radius and only some much time in a year.

africa is warm and the these two rivers aren't as difficult as you might think easy lines on most rapids.
At the Zam there's plenty for your wife to do; form safari to quad biking to bungi jumping or gorge swinging to river cruises, even the best whitewater rafting for her to see just what ya do.

Good lines
Scotty
