First Kayak 19 years 1 week ago #5484

I need help in finding a kayak that will work for me.

I live in Iowa and take trips to the boundary waters quite often. My family has decided that one conoe is too small to fit all of our stuff, and that soloing a canoe is too hard, so we want a kayak.

We need it to be able to carry gear, and I would also like it to be relativly fast.

I was looking at an old-town cayuga 160, but ABS just doesn't seem like it would be that great of a material for a kayak. Am i Wrong?

Also, what is the point of a rudder?

I am looking in the 800-1200 dollar range.

Can anybody recomend a good kayak?
