European Freestyle Champs / Canoe Kayak festival June 26 - July 2nd
National Watersports Centre. Holme Pierrepont. Nottingham
Plans are coming together well for this summer's main event. Parties
are planned all week including bands, dj's, film shows and chill out
nights. There is a shuttle bus and trailer service set up to take
athletes to and from East Midlands Airport. Sky Sports will cover the
event aswell. Camping is included for all international competitors
and the sunshine has been booked. The event feature will be finished
by the 13th May with changes and tweaks going on everyday for the two
weeks leading up to this date. The spot is going to be fun, fast and
furious with added pile width to make rides consistant. Sponsors so

European Freestyle Championships
Competitors from over 20 nations will battle it out for whitewater
supremacy on our purpose built wave. 45 second rides of non stop
vertical and aerial action are judged and paddlers progress through
qualifying heats, quarters, semis then on to the weekend’s highlight,
the knockout final. This event is second only to the sport’s World
Championships.
Youth / Newcomer Whitewater Challenge ( Sat & Sun only )
Developed to encourage and introduce junior and newcomer paddlers to
the whitewater competition disciplines. Coaching will be provided to
all paddlers, helping them to achieve some of the basic moves.
Competitors will participate in a river running skills slalom style
event and a freestyle kayak jam session. For more info email:

Come and Try it Sessions ( Sat & Sun only )
Visitors will be invited to have a go at canoeing and kayaking
through our come and try it sessions on the Winfield Pool close to
the main event arena and marquee. This is an introduction to flat
water canoeing. Paddlers will be able to try the basic strokes and
moves under close supervision. Around 500 local youngsters are
anticipated to take part. This event is promoted through local

Big Air Jam ( Sat night )
To demonstrate the real expressive & fun nature of freestyle.
Saturday evening will see a big boat jam session open to all
paddlers. The idea, to go as big as possible, anything goes! Great
prizes will be on offer.
Embers Youth / Newcomer Canoe Polo Challenge ( Sat & Sun only )
Canoe polo is a fast, physical and highly skillful game played by
teams of five. You don’t need to worry about your own skill level!
We have coaches and players from the European and World Championship
medal winning Mens GB squad. They will play scheduled exhibition
matches alongside come and try it sessions throughout the weekend. It
doesn’t matter whether you’ve never paddled before or whether you can
already paddle but have never tried polo. We have 14 full sets of kit
on hand for each session, all you need to bring is your enthusiasm.
Please sign up on the day to ensure your place. The sessions will be
divided into, never paddled and never tried polo groups. They’ll be
completely fun, safe and free. Best of all each session will finish
with a game to test your new found skills! If you like what you’ve

Big Cup Video Contest Finals ( Fri night )
The Big Cup Video Contest is the most innovative new event of 2006
and it is the first of its kind to be launched throughout Europe.
Competitors can enter video clips into any of the six categories for
the chance to get their hands on the big cash prize. Entries can
features any location in the world but the paddler must be of a
European nationality. The closing date for entries to be sent is June
1st 2006. The Big Cup Winners' Night will take place the Freestyle
Kayak European Championships. Here all entries will be shown on the
big screen and the winners announced. Top sponsors will be providing
big prizes along with Big Cup purse, also every competitor will
receive a copy of the Winners' Night presentation DVD. Want to know

Kayak Village ( Thurs -Sun )
The summer canoe show. All the main manufacturers and retailers will
be there showing off the latest kayaking gear. Newcomer or expert,
this will be a perfect place to view and purchase your next
equipment. Demo boats will also be available for testing on the
whitewater course.
