It does help for playboating (floops, stalls). Not good for windy conditions.

Ive been using one since 2003. Personally I love it to bits theyre great for playing and i happily paddle rivers with them of all grades. I tried my friends before i bought one and I really get on with it. I still have an older 45 player as well which i tend to use as my rock bashing paddle even though the blades are getting quite small.

some people have tried mine and didnt get on at all. Im not sure about cranked though maybe trying a smaller feather angle from 15- 30 this will feel nicer on your wrists.

Would a 12 degree feather on a crankshaft be reasonable for substituting 0 degrees and be able to perform very similarly?? Im also wondering how to size a paddle for playboating? Im 5'9"? Wat cm?

im 5ft 7 and use a 191 O player and a 194 45r player my older paddler still going strong and still use it on rockier runs. both straight shafts. I am thinking of geting a crank shaft probably either a robson as they are awsome value for money prob around a 15 or 30 feather.

For playboating the less feather does make more moves easier and it is alos easier on your wrists and shouldes. For cranks it may worth getting one of lendals 4 way splits with adjustable feather this way youve got a split paddle and you can play with different feathers until youve found what works best for you
