looking for new paddles 18 years 10 months ago #6512

I'm looking for a new pair of paddles. I want a pair that will be good river runner but also very good for play. Lots of power but light weight. Willing to spend 2-3 hundred pounds as i want them to last me pretty much forever. Also are crank shafts worth the extra cash???
Thanks very much everyone who replies :)

I really like my AT2. It's great for all types of boating. I also really like Werner. They're paddles are very light. I prefer a bent shaft, to a straight one. (Insert gay joke here)

[color=cyan:15da9b7076]There is no such thing as an indestructable paddle. :snooty: Sooner or later, it WILL break. :comfort: [/color:15da9b7076]

All paddles break sooner or later, generally bentshafts aka cranks tend to break easier then straight shafts. No need for a crank unless you have wrist problems, or the comfort is a big deal. Werners last quite a while generally, and personally I have seen several AT2 paddles break, they just don't cut it for creeking. I was a big fan of Lightning paddles, but they just closed their doors.

i have a robson oracle bent shaft and reall like it. it does feel much nicer on the wrists.
if you're in the uk try a company called mitchell paddles, they do almost any combination you can imagine, basicall just build your own paddle.

Ive been using Werner players since they came out about 6 years ago they are still going strong and mainly been paddled down grade 4-5 around uk and europe. They have come down in price recently to around £175 or so. Also robson have also just brought out an awsome value for money crank shaft paddles for the same sort of money. Several friends have been using robsons for the same amount of time. check them out @

Also worth checking out Ty warps and Peak Uk (made by ty warp) paddles very good value for money aswell not sure on their durability compaired to werner an robson yet but hell of a price :D

If your looking for a cheaplight paddle, seven2 paddles are actaully pretty nice. i like the grips that come in place of a bent shaft and the upper models look like they have a lot of power.
