So how do you transport your kayaks around the UK or the world?

Plop a picture and short description up (sorry if this thread is repeated - i did search) of your car.

Car: Fiat Punto 60SX Ltd. Ed. Racing Green.
Location: Nottingham

Im driving a Mitisibushi colt. and i use uprights and extrawide bars this way i can fit around 6 kayaks or 2 open boats.

I would recommend putting your boats either on their sideor cockpt down on the bars as this will protect your boats hull

Here is my shuttle vehicle for bad roads, snowy weather and towing my house. 1989 Nissan, ugly but keeps going. Best rack and wet gear storage in the world.

1995 Honda Passport or a Chevy silverado dualy with extended cab and extended bed. 3500. One of the biggest personal trucks you can buy stock. It holds up to 8 kayaks with no problem. IF you forgot your strap no problem keep the kayaks down to 4 kayaks and then fit in the bed with the tail gate UP!

[color=cyan:b5f03c1ab7]Here's my paddle wagon, a 2000 VW Caddy 'bakkie' 1.6. Comes standard with zero leg room, excellent for long distance to Cape Town (1600km in a day..) at least it has some nice sound  [/color:b5f03c1ab7]

For the last 8 years I use my small but trusty SUV, Daihatsu Terios. I have plased a folding bar system by Thule on top of my major racks and I place my boats sideways, to protect the hull.

This way I can load up to 4 boats side by side. If I have to load more, then I have to improvise, as you can see in the 7 boat photo below

managed to get some pictures into the pklayak gallery...there's also a truck photo which shows it a little bit better then the one before...

it;s a solid 4*4 "never stop anywhere" type of vehicle....seats 11people comfortably..

we had 15kayaks on the top and there was plenty of space left...i think it'll fit 30 without problems....

this thingy was decently affordable (3500$), exgovernment vehicle (disaster relief agency), no mechanical problems (even while they showed up after some 30000km)...

but hey...it's 35year old truck...drives dam well through swamp, fields and if it has to also on roads...:)

there's still plenty to do like fridge, tv, solar, office type etc., etc.,....need to find someone to "pimp my truck" or similar...

for the time being it still means sleeping on wooden planks or the seats...use windows for AC, and the stars for TV substitute...

but it lets you drive your equipment throughout the world...:)

yer that truck of yours is boshank when i move out of my house im gunna get a london bus and convert it into a house bus wich should be wiked they cost around £8000 from the company in london and if you dont use it as a public bus (i.e. drive around picking people up and charging them for lifts) you dont need a bus licence only problem is insurance lol but there wont be any house bills to pay for so hopefully it will be realy cheap compared t oa house

Thats one of the best ideas ive ever herd!! quality. You could get a hell of a lot of boats in a bus, and a lot of people! NICE
