Calgary and waves 19 years 10 months ago #722

Morning,

Im in need of some help finding spots in calgary ab. I few years ago i went down to the K river. I played on some wave directly down from canoe meadows. I was wondering if there is any bigger waves to be had on the k river then that one, and where they are?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Paul

HAHAHA!! yea thanks i did that. It doesnt help me much though. I think they did some construction on the river to build and increase the rideable waves, but i have no idea where they are.

Maybe i should go back a bit, and describe what im doing. A few years ago i was at the k river , but not to kayak, i went to surf. I grew up in san deigo surfing, and as i now find myself landlocked in calgary i just want to get wet. The wave i hit up before was small, and didnt do to much. Im looking for something a bit bigger so i can get a nice surf every now and again.

Cheers,
Paul

Paul,
did you get out at the Kananaskis Whitewater festival? Had some surf boards and surfers out there. f you ahven't been to the Kan in a a couple of years, you're ll be impressed by the new features between widow maker and Canoe Meadows. Santa Claus will work best for surfing.
Check: www.calpaddle.com for busy local forum and info,
also check surifng pictures from last week end 's festival at www.machavok.com go to "Kayaking" and then click on the KWF link, scroll to bottom or article for more pics.
Good luck and see you out on the water
Nadege
PS: new features but the water temp's still the same ;)
