G-Force outfitting 18 years 10 months ago #7535

I've been almost pursauded to buy myself a G-force 6.1, however if anyone could enlighten me as to weather the outfitting is any good, i'd gratefull, or if it's not how easy it is to retro fit it with something like syncro 5.

Thanks[/b]

I had a 6.1 for a couple of years with foam and a IR ratchet backband. Real easy to get comfortable and was a lot lighter then the new outfitting that comes in daggers. Have fun

I used to own a G-Force 6.3 and the outfitting of that boat sucked. The backband is rubbish, I replaced it with a foam backrest but any good quality backrest will do.

I recently bought myslef a Fluid Flirt medium and although the outfitting is simple it is great! The boat is a lot more responsive than the G-Force too, lighter and faster, easier to throw around etc. So, if you are able to demo one, check it out! This is actually the first boat ever (in 23 years of paddling) that was good straight out of the box. I actually unwrapped the boat myself at the store and it was very close to perfect.

The outfitting is simple but effective and is how they have kept the price of the boat down! Once you have adjusted it should be snugg and work

personally i like dagger boats as in i learned to roll in a old crossfire, but i think there outfitting is ok but heavy and there plastic on the newer boats suck. IMO

Humm, how come then that the slighlty more sophisticated but way more effective outfitting in for instance Fluid or Zelezny kayaks indeed does work? Those boats are cheap as chips as well (Fluid is in the same price range as Dagger Europe overhere, Holland).

Nope, Dagger is definitely not on the same quality level in my book.

Granted, if you put enough effort in it the G-force could be outfitted decently (the new owner of my G-Force managed to) but still, the standard outftting was flimsy.

Unless I got a dog instead of course ;)

Cheers,

Michiel

Not sure but the fluid are around £650 price range in the uk and the gforce is only £474 so its much cheaper and ir back rests are easy to install if you need one!

The otufitting is more basic yes i would agree but I dont think that it is rubbish (compared to outfitting going back a few years!)

IF you want a bean bag foot rest and all the extras then why not get a higher specced newer design and just save up the extra money for a few more weeks

I guess I've been lucky but I got a brandnew Flirt for 35 GBP (50 euro's) more than a new G-Force (750 for a new Flirt whereas the G-Force costs 700) :D

You can't know from my posts but I pretty tall (6'4\") and don't need bean bags or foam: I need space to put my feet in. The funny thing is that the medium Flirt fits me a lot better than the biggest G-Force. Besides, I can't get the G-Force trimmed right: Even with the seat all the way forward (which hurt my feet like h*ll) it is still tail heavy for me. For the record I weigh 83 kilo's, so I am not too heavy for a G-Force 6.3.

All in all I was not pleased with the G-Force and sold it after a few months.

I do agree that a good fit can be obtained with foam and a little patience but the G-Force standard outfitting is crap IMO. Even my old polokayaks and surfkayaks (that have no outfitting at all) fit better than this boat.

But then again, it might just be my weird body and the boat is good for the rest of the world.
