Ive decided to make myself a boat! I have had alot of helpful information from shaggy designs the only thing im not sure of is how to make a cockpit rim! can anyone enlighten me on how to do this?

I have aqquired the foam for the blank from a friend in the building trade and im not sure whether to make a squirt boat, playboat or a new surf boat :think:

any advice welcome

Nah seriously though I reckon a 'park n play' would be a good idea to fit your quiver lol.

c1 got a few drawings need to get paid then can start getting the materials ive been offered a space to carve the foam Cheers mike! So as soon as i have finalised my design i will start drawing it out on the foam blank once its glued together!

Cheap and nasty way is to use a bit of garden hose and tape it around the edge of the cockpit hole; the tape needs to run away from the cockpit hole. Once taped in place glass over the top of the hose and into the inside edge of your boat. Will need a few layers. Once the resin has set trim the glass and pull the hose out. We used this technique on some prototype polo kayaks before making a proper cockpit mold in a company I use to work for.

Cheers Juno how did you make the mold caus that could be quite useful as well
