Project 52 vs. 4Twenty 18 years 9 months ago #7826

Ok so im really undecided between the two boats! I fit in the pyranha 420 sm comfortably and fit in the 52 also. Im not sure which one to buy they seem like two very nice boats. Which one is better performance all around? Anyone have these boats or demoed them to tell me what they are like?
Thanks,
Will

a kayaking magazine ( paddler i think) said that both were good boats, but clearly gave more props to the project 52

well, my project is begining to oilcan a tiny bit. Oilcanning is actually easy to get out. Hairdryer and then slide some minicell under the seat. Not a huge concern. Both my star and 2fun had oilcanned at somepoint in their carreers. i used a hairdryer and got it right out. On the other hand, pyrannah boats gouge plastic like none other. Hit a sharp rock $hi# you just lost all the plastic under your seat. Wavesport really does need to improve their mix. They need more hard stuff in their mix. Anyone ever seen how nice Fluid plastic is? It's kinda heavy tho'

Yes ive heard of the projects oilcanning which sucks. Im leaning towards the Project because it seems like the better boat this year but i could be wrong.

I once saw a cat sit on a fluid solo while waiting for shuttle and he sank right into it!

Mind you it was hot and sunny but still

That's kinda funny, a cat. But... the project is really really sweet. I just learned to flatwater loop it like a week ago. I had a star and could not faltwater loop it because it didn't balance as well. I am not very bothered by oilcanning. Like I said, shove minicell under your seat and it won't happen. On the other hand, LL is coming out with a new playboat that is 49 gallons. I think you were in bettween sizes so this may best suit you. LL does not make the best playboats, IMO but this one may be good. I would wait if I were you.
