I used 3mm neophrene long johns, double whool first layer and a dry top when I was starting out and swiming a lot. Now I use whool firstlayer, double on my top, semi dry pants and a dry top. I also always use, whool, neophrene or hydroskin socks and a warm helmet or a scull cap and a helmet. This is just me. The people I paddle with use all variations of hats, gloves and dry or wet cloathing. I think the only common thing is we wear enough to keep us warm but not to much so it dosn´t get in our way. Remember to have good quality first layer, whool, fleese, hydroskin or something warm, never wear coton :scared:. Also dring lots of fluids and keep up your energy be eating.

I usually wear a farmer john wetsuit with a rash guard under for my top. I often then add a fleece long sleeve shirt with a dry top. I will also wear semi-dry pants socks a skull cap and gloves. :scared:

Personally i either wear a dry cag with an IR thickskin and a helly hansen base layer and a pair of neoprene 3/4 trousers or bomber scud pants. If its really cold or Im paddling harder stuff/ Open canoe then the stikene dry suit comes out to play with fleecy stuff inside it!

wet suits only work if you are submerged and swimming around enough for your body heat to warm them up you would be far better to wear tight fitting fleecy stuff like the IR thingys and put some water proof pants over the top without the latex seals on the ankles so the water can escape! Much comfier
