Places to go in November? 18 years 9 months ago #7977

Any ideas on a cheap kayaking destination to go to in November? Perferably warm and not Central or South America. Any ideas would be appreciated?

Why not South America? Argentina is a very cheap place, and we have lots of rivers in Patagonia, Mendoza, Salta, Tucuman, Cordoba. It´s a very nice country with very nice people and lots of rivers.
Cheers

Hey Portage King,
The Ireland trip is still on the table but my brother is starting to think of somewhere warm. Plus I'm scared I might get scunked with poor water levels. I guess that could happen anywhere.

Hey Nok,
The only reason I said no Central or South America is because thats the only suggestion I've been getting. It is an option. What are the water level like around November?

Hey wwdemon,
If I was to head to uganda solo, is it hard to find people to boat with in november? How are the levels then?

Thanks for the info Guys!!!

Water levels by that time of the year are starting to get higher. The higher levels you are going to see them around december/january, but november seems a good time to com by. there are a few rivers that are dam regulated so the water level is all the year round. a fe options
in patagonia: Rio Alumine, Manso, Villegas, Azul, Foyel
Mendoza: Rio Diamante, Mendoza, Grande, Atuel, Vacas, Tunuyan, Tupungato
Salta: Rio Juramento, Iruya, Lipeo
and there are a few more rivers in Tucuman and Cordoba
Hope this helps
Good luck

If theres no water in Ireland then there should be some surf it picks up huge swell on the west coast!

Or Sunny Wales for some decent white water runs / n steep stuff should be rain in november or Scotland for more steep

Going solo there is not a problem. Normally U'll find people to paddle with easy. There is always some rafting operation running - that means safety kayakers playing. It is getting to be quite popular, so there should be kayakers.
If U need any more info - just ask.

Web - www.kayakthenile.com and www.raftafrica.com
Most of the budjet is the plane tickets - I don't know where U R located, so... Once U R there, almost everything is cheap - that deffinetly includes beer. Last I was there I think I spent about 300$ (US) in 2 weeks stay (shuttles, camping, food, drink, transfers, booz, smoke ...).
Anything else?

Bud, Look at going to The Zambezi!
Compare it to the Nile, its also cheap and the levels for the Zam are awesome in November. And you might find it a better all round experience because the river running (in my opinion and many other's) is that the rapids are better and you still have huge waves to air on.

If you want any more info don't hesitate to contact me and i'll give you all the info you need (prices, where to stay, the people to paddle and party with, etc)

Good lines
