Wave park in Columbia, SC 18 years 11 months ago #8081

Any thoughts to the success of building a whitewater kayaking center for those of us who can't travel every weekend to the river of most flow. I think that people would come from all over to visit the park but I would like to know how many would realy be interested in coming to SC to visit the park.

They are charging $15.00 per two hours in the water. This is not what i call fun because you are not the only one in the water and you might have to sit in an eddy for the two hours you paid for. I would like to charge one fee so that if you did have to wait it would be ok b/c you have the whole day to play. I think that it would bring our paddling community together and when we had the Iceman and Millrace masacer it would be a much larger turn out. I don't know if they will like my idea as Charlotte has just spent 32mill in that park and maybe thats why they are charging what they are. I think that a park should be one that every one gets to enjoy and anyone who wants to come as long as they sign the waver they can come join us for a full day instead of having to reserve a slot of two hours. I know that my drive is about two hours from the park and that sucks, I could just go to the lowluda and have almost as much fun here as I would there. but let me know more thoughts on this subject b/c if i get enough people interested then I get my investors and that would be awesome...

The place is an olympic training center and the worlds largest whitewater park. I was surprised it was even going to be that cheap. I just spoke with one of their reps and they said right now they are just waiting on their "occupancy license" which requires them to pass a safety inspection. Since this is the largest whitewater park to date there apparently have been some issues trying to figure out safety codes, etc. 1st (tenative) slots are available in august so i'm gonna grab mine here in the next few weeks and see how things go. i'll be sure to post and let you guys know whats up.
