[color=cyan:7ba27ded40][/color:7ba27ded40]HELP! I've not been paddling long & want to get a boat. I've paddled a Dagger GT reasonably comfortably but it is quite roomy and I wonder about getting something a little narrower around the knee area. I'm 5'4, approx 130lbs & female (ie I do have hips that need to be accommodated) and whilst I could probably fit in quite a small boat I do like my comfort. I want to be able to do some whitewater but also want any boat I get to be able to do a bit of river running. I've seen a Pyranha i:4 (medium) but haven't tried one - has anyone out there paddled one - is it suitable for someone just starting (been paddling a couple of months)? If not is there a boat you would recommend?

Probally recomend a Jackson 2Fun as it is easy to roll and is a decent river runner, good up to easy class V. It's an Ok playboat but is tough to throw down in flatwater. Not a big fan of pyrannah playboats for no particular reason. Not a fan of long slicy boats because they are annoying to surf. The Jackson boats are nice because of how light they are.

Id recomend going for a playboat. You will learn quicker and will not waste money when/if you get a playboat.
But if you have to get a longer boat then the pyranha prozone is a wide and great boat to learn in.

Hope this helps

2Fun is the best all around boat I've ever owned paddled. One of my buddies learning to roll quoted it as effortless. It's also really light too so it will be easy for you to haul around or portage with.

Thanks guys - I'll have a look round - can't say I've seen too many Jackson boats in the UK but they must be available - sounds like the 2Fun is just the ticket, especially if it is light - hauling boats over locks can be a real pain.

if you can get your hands on a Zelezny Igo, that may be a good option as well. They are cheap (even new) and have been around for a couple of years. The only problem may be that the people who have one are not very keen on selling it (i have one and i'll definitely keep it).

loads of leg room yet really low volume (i'm sure it has a lot less volume than the official number you'll read in the playak database, but i haven't measured it. i just think the official number is a mistake...).

the JK 2fun could be ok as well, although personally i wouldn't fit in one (i'm 6'). or maybe a small riot, like a small Flair or an Orbit, if you want some more development potential.

so many choices. see the playak boats database, sorted by volume, to get
the full overview:
playak.com/kayaks.php?all_kayaks=1&s...volume&order=ASC

and don't forget to try some boats before you buy...
If you're happy, you're successful.
