Whats a good... 18 years 8 months ago #8567

Whats a good kayak for running down rivers, and possibly the river getting shallow at times, would this be based on how buoyant the kayak is ie. the larger the length and width of the kayak the more buoyant it would be? And is this called \"creeking\"
And finally, any good suggestion for such a kayak that is easy to get in and out of, has a high bouyancy and dry storage for weekend trips in the price range of $500-$800

Thanks

Ok..! First of all, if you want a good river running kayak that is bouyent and stays on top of the water try www.jacksonkayak.com there fun series should have a boat that is your size because there is a big variety creeking is basically going down small volume rivers or creeks(waterfalls, drops, etc.) and the boats go aroung 800 depending on what your looking for check it out and see if it helps

There are a lot of boats on the market that would fulfill your needs. Rivers can be shallow too, but \"creeking\" is generally in something that has a really small riverbed and high gradient. Sometimes the small riverbeds are still deep, but shallow over slides ect. For a newer boat look at these:
Liquidlogic Jefe
Dagger Nomad
Pyranha Burn
Pyranha M3
Fluid Solo
Riot Magnum
Necky Crux
Bliss-Stick Mystic
Jackson Rocker
Wavesport Habitat

For slightly older, cheaper, and still good boats look into
Lidquidlogic Gus
Necky Blunt
Dagger CFS
Pyranha H3
Liquidlogic Huck
Bliss-Stick Hukka
Prijon Embudo
Prijon Hercules
Wavesport Y

Obviously lots of options out there, more then I am listing. Every boat has it's advantages and disadvanges. I'd start with a cheap used boat first and then after a bunch of paddling you'll know what you want.

I agree with Darinm. You won't be able to buy a new boat for $500-850. Get a used/demo boat, preferably a demo boat. As for brand, there are a ton, Dagger Mamba, Pyranha Burn, Liquid Logic Little Joe, Wavesport Diesel, etc.

look at the database here. and see what you like. then go to boatertalk.com and check out all the reviews. then go to kayaknews.ca and look at more reviews. then throw them all out the window. cause they mean diddly squat. It is how you feel in the boat and how you will react to the boat. demo it out on the river you will be at the most or a river like it.
