If I had a car i would the surfs pap from what i've seen up here atm. I have to carry my kayak through the city then on to the metro (Newcastles version of the underground) then get that to the coast then another walk to the beach. We've got a sandy bay jst up the coast from tynemouth but its got some nasty pollution. I think every 30 miles of coastline has somewhere called sandy bay lol. U should definatley check out tynemouth sometime though we get some quality waves here on a good day nice 6 fters. Heres a couple of photos that were uploaded to magicseaweed

Theres also a handy webcam 2 thats updated every 2 minutes

I was wondering about going off Tynemouth, I'll be up there at Christmas and was planning on taking a surf board out on Boxing Day but I'll take my boat up instead (and of course my steamer of a wet suit, flask and thermals for after, gloves, boots, .....)
