Don't know which one to choose :( 18 years 11 months ago #8784

I'm looking to buy my first kayak ever. I paddled a MR.Clean all the summer and I love it, but it pearl a lot (dive into a wave with the front)and I hate it. I'm looking for a all-around kayak who can iniate me to the basic of freestyling easily. By looking on internet I found those :

Necky - Orbit Fish
Dagger - RX 6.7
Wavesport - EZG 50
Wavesport - ZG

If you have other suggestions you're welcome

I really like my Fluid Flirt. If possbile there's only one way to go: demo demo demo demo demo demo and then demo some more.

You can't test a boat based upon reviews and tests. You have to see if it fits you and you can't do that online.

Good luck finding your boat.

Cheers,

Michiel

I fully agree with michielv - demo the whole bunch and then some more.
About Necky - I find their recent designs to be very unforgiving, very performance oriented. That could prove a bit frustrating for a beginner...
But U should choose by demoing. That said, I always like my new boats to be just a little \"pushing\" for me - in a way that will MAKE me use proper technic.
Enjoy!!! :roflol:

my freind just got a zg because he felt it to be a great fu;ll on playboat with still great riverrunning capabilities. Still, there i8s no substitute for demoing

I love my EZG. I took many years off paddling and then jumped back in with this boat. It felt forgiving and stable when I started back up and now cartwheels and surfs with style. My buddy has an overthruster built for one and he can loop with no difficulty. The RX is also a nice boat. I have also paddled it extensively and the difference between them is personal preference although there is more foot room at the toes in the RX. Saying that when I paddled it lots I was switching back and forth between the two. My friend liked the RX and I like the EZG. The are booth awesome boats. If you see someone on the river mayby ask if they don't mind you hitting a wave in the boat. I know that I would let someone who wants to buy one get a quick shot in my boat to see how they like it. Just remeber if you see them at the bar later a beer is on you.

it also depends on what y kind of boating you want to do. but i agree with robmeister....the ZG is that kind of boat that is forgiving and has play in it as well as river running skills...the EZG is also a really forgiving boat that you can throw ends with and loop it....if anyone has seen Tanya Shuman....you can see how she does all kinds of shit with the EZG

how about getting some thing like an innazone they can play and are good for begining. but if you are thinking about geting in to playboating then get a full on play boat straight away thats waht i did. the lerning curve will be strrp but you will get much better and quickly. if you also have some more experenced paddlers to paddle with this will help.

but demo as many boats as you can

I like the WaveSport EZ series (EZ, Big EZ) or the Liquid Logic Cross River 125. Try them out, demo!

I've seen a lot of people on the American River paddling the Jackson and Kingpin playboats. One of my friends is 6' 4\" (about 2m), 250 lbs (110 kg), he rides a Jackson, and says he fits quite comfortably into his boat.

Definitely demo everything you can. I demo'd four or five boats before I boat my first boat (Wavesport Diesel), which I bought used. You may want to buy a demo boat as well. You can get them at a pretty good discount (40-60% off).

Eek, what ever you do don't go with the Necky. I love Necky kayaks but this thing is aweful in my opinion. I sat in it on land before seal launching and it was fine. I got in the water and it felt like it was designed for a sumo wrestler.
