I'm thinking about buying a superstar mainly because I can get a good deal on one. However, I heard that they are slow on green waves. Can somebody confirm or deny this rumour for me? As I only weigh 185lbs. I thought that this would probably negate some of the rumoured slower surfing ability.

You may want to do a bit more research... you might be closer to a Allstar than a Superstar to play in and throw around... food for thought.

Yeah, well although I'm skinny, I'm 6'4 and have more than enough leverage to throw around a boat that size. Just want to know if anybody has had a superstar on a green wave.

I surf mine 3 days a week on a 3-4 foot wave. It's as fast or faster then any other boat out there. I have never found myself wishing I had more speed. Try one out and see for yourself.

Take care

What utter bobbins!

All this statement does is prove your ignorence and leads me to belive you have not tried many other boats. There is not a chance in hell that is is faster or as fast as any other boat out there, there are loads and loads of faster boats becausr the star series are relitivly slow.

They are one of the best boats out there in a hole but to get this hole performance they have had to comprimise slightly on the wave performance and this has resulted in a slower boat. It is still not slow and it can be good fun on a wave but it is certainly not a wave boat (like an orbit fish or squashtail).

I have said this before but just because you have a Jackson obsession it does not make them the best boats out there.

You're right. If you compair The Star Series to a kayak designed for surfing, it is slower. However in the club I paddle with we have the following boats, most of which I have paddled myself:

Dagger Crazzy 88
Wavesport EZ
Wavesport Project
Jackson 4Fun
Pyranha I4 M
Dagger RX
Dagger Kingpin

Now does my Superstar blow off a wave any easier than these? No
Do I have a harder time catching and staying on the wave? No
Can I flat spin, blunt, and backstab as well as in the other boats? No, it's easier in my Superstar.

So this is my opinion, based off of my experience and the experience of other the other boaters in our Kayaking club. I'm not an obsessed Jackson guy. However, I do feel they make a great boat. Not perfect for every boater in every situation, but you'll be hard pressed to find a line of kayaks as well rounded as Jackson's. Again just my opinion.

As I've always said, \"use whatever gear you want.\" It's all good. If you disagree with me, it's all good. This is a recreational sport that we all do for fun. So let's go have some fun.

I am not sure that you can fairly say the orbit fish is designed for surfing, it is not. It is mearly a playboat designed to be good on a wave.
Lokk here to see what a surf kayak looks like

Then surely you should have noticed how nearly all (if not every single one) of these are faster that the star series? So why say in a previous post that is as fast or faster than anything else out there? something like the Crazy 88 is a much faster boat.

You will not find it any harder to get on or stay on that wave as a granny in a bathtub could surf that quite happily but you will not carve around the wave with the same speed as those in the faster boats and the only reason you will find the wave tricks easier in your boat is because you are used to it, the 88 and kingpin should have an advantage when it comes to wave moves.

Ok that made me phiscally larph out loud. Firstly you shout too loudly too often about Jacksn and are now tarred as on obbsessive. Secondly Jacson being a relitivly new company do not have a well rounded range, compared to most WW manufactuing companies (e.g. Pyranaha, Riot, Dagger etc.) they have a really quite limeted range

Wow bro, you must really have something against Jackson boats. You bash them as much as I pimp them. What's the deal yo? Is it because they have a die hard following, or is it that you're just sick of hearing about their boats? Maybe you're tired of seeing team Jackson win events. Who knows? Keep on flaming, I guess it makes you feel better!

Hey all. Does anyone notice that anytime jackson is ever mentions a virtual \"fight\" insues. Cause a Die hard always says. \"These boats ROCK. and non is better\" So then someone gets their head rubed the wrong way and says how they are dumb and know nothing.

WHY CANT WE ALL BE FRIENDS! You may think the brand sucks or rocks. Just be open to suggestions. (couldnt find a piece sign

Sorry guys don't get me wrong I am not trying to say that the Jackson star series are crap, far from it they seem to be one of the best hole boats going and seem very easy to throw around.

The thread however was asking what they are like on a wave with view to purchaseing one. So outlandish statements stating how fast they are could be a bit misleading, they are not the slowest boat in the world by a fair stretch but they are not that quick compaired to a lot of the other playboats out there.

If most of your playing is done on a green wave it would not seem 100% sensible to get a boat that is tweaked for hole performance when there are so many out there tweaked for wave performance.

Sorry for ruffaling any feathers, let's all kiss and make up.

Jacksons are veryvery sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Had an allstar and learned everyhole move possible practically. Traded for a Project 52!!!!!!!!!!! The BEST boat i have ever paddled. Fastest boat probaly ever in my opinion on a nice wave. This boat takes kayaking to a new level!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is all my opinion

Yeah, I sucked it up and paid the extra money for a project 62 in the end. Have not yet had it on a worthy wave, but I'm pretty stoked.
