AT Paddles and Defects... Boooo! 18 years 7 months ago #9121

I've had my AT2E 196cm 30 degree offset paddle less than two weeks, today is separated at the joint in big ocean surf. It is in perfect condition, as I have only paddled with it on reversing tidal falls and ocean surf since I got it two weeks ago. Anyhow... I sent an e-mail to AT today telling them of the situation. We'll see what happens, I hope AT has the customer service and respect that should come from a company which charges people 300 dollars plus for paddles. We'll see.

That said, I learned quite alot on that one ride without a paddle for braces and strokes. I was so much more contious of my boat leans, as I was able to clean spin on waves and throw in a reverse blunt at the end. RIGHT ON! I highly recomend that people try using their paddle less as a temporary exercise to gain better boat control. Become a better boater, not just a better paddler.

Ok, that is your clue to never buy another AT. AT paddles are pretty weak. Although they are heavy there is nothing strong in them. I broke mine after only about 4 months. On the first day, in the first rapid of a 7 day trip in Canada. I was pissed off to say the least. Anyway, when you have an AT it's only a matter of time. H20 paddles have the same feel(in my opinion better) as an AT but are rediculously durable. BTW, i now paddle with an AB Pos. It's just a paddle man. I think I'll stick with cheap paddles so when they brake i won't be out $200+

BTW, AT has a pretty crappy warranty, they wanted me to pay like $80 bucks to fix half of the paddle.
